Create reader-friendly user's guides and installation and maintenance manuals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Research, design and author highly detailed pilot's guides, quick reference guides, and other technical documents related to complex, leading edge integrated avionics systems and software * Team with Software Engineers, System Engineers and Project Managers to learn product specifications, theory of operation, and project schedule requirements * Configure and operate a PC-based desktop simulator application and related tools as required * Rework mechanical drawings and screen captures for use in publications * Prepare electronic documents for print output and support printing suppliers with timely and acuurate source materials and document specifications * Work in a team environment to drive innovation and continuous improvement into documnet development and related processes * Edit copy written by other Technical Writers for content organization, style, voice, audience and consistency of format OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES: * Develop multimedia training tools * Perform other job-related duties as assigned EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED: * College graduate or equivalent * Avionics/aviation background * Proficient with desktop publishing tools * Private Pilot license DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: * College degree in Electronics, Computers, Technical Writing, Journalism, Avionics/Aviation Technology or other related field * Electronics, engineering, or technical background * Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop proficiency * Instrument rating * Technical illustration education/experience * AutoCAD and/or Solidworks experience * Multimedia and courseware development software experience * Familiarity with mass-production printing equipment and processes
