Overview:

HNTB is currently seeking a nationally recognized, comprehensive leader as Director, Construction Management Services. This is an executive position with a strong focus on building the construction management practice firm wide. There will be a particular emphasis on growing the Program Management Consulting business in multiple market sectors.

This key leadership position reports to the Director, Program Delivery Initiative, and serves as a member of HNTB’s Program Delivery Leadership Group and will be expected to develop and maintain strong ties into Infrastructure, Federal and Buildings Business Units. The Program Delivery initiative partners closely with the client services teams and megaproject pursuit teams to integrate a deep understanding of owners’ needs, goals and objectives with specialized Program Delivery resources working collaboratively across all business units in joint pursuits and programs.

The Director, Construction Management Services will be tasked with growing program management and construction services particularly in our core Infrastructure business while continuing to develop our Federal and Buildings business.

Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities include:


Strategic Planning and Implementation

* Lead the development of the strategic plan for the Construction Management practice based on industry involvement, client contact, and interaction with HNTB client service leaders and project managers.
* Strategic leadership and input to the development of world class project/program systems and organizations, nationally with potential for international expansion.
* Uses understanding of complex internal and external variables to formulate project strategy (five-plus years) in support of engagement and organizational strategy.
* Sustains long-term change process (three- plus years), building commitment by explicitly laying out a clear change road map and monitoring progress.
* Identify trends and future opportunities
* Must be a demonstrated influencing PM/CM leader in a matrix organization.
* Collaborate with the Corporate Ventures practice in direct partnerships with contractors and concessionaires

Industry Representation

* Maintain relationships with major clients focusing on how HNTB can assist with their major programs
* Collaborate with Corporate Communications to develop national and state-level communications programs and campaigns
* Represent HNTB within national industry organizations

Marketing and Business Development

* Broaden services with emphasis on traditional DOT, toll, and municipal clients, aviation and transit as well as Federal and Buildings. Utilize expertise and leadership to secure assignments with new clients on buildings programs to include global assignments.
* Senior business partnership, i.e. evidencing the confidence, business acumen, negotiations, interpersonal and communications skills required to represent HNTB in critical business dealings, mega pursuits, relationships, and negotiations with critical suppliers, business partners and customers.

Service Delivery

* Coordinate and lead national construction management resources on Infrastructure, Federal and Buildings projects
* Ensure HNTB is current with trends in the industry
* Work directly on high level projects with the business units as directed by the CEO
* Oversee & lead construction services Quality Management Plan.
* Leading large-scale PM/CM activities on highly complex design build projects for Buildings, Federal and Infrastructure. This includes in-depth knowledge of the appropriate project/construction management systems to effectively manage projects of significant size and scale.
* Successful management of highly technically complex construction management projects.

Client Satisfaction

* Meet with Foundation Clients to identify their program requirements and solutions
* Participate in the development of client service action plans
* Conduct client audits and client project reviews to determine client satisfaction

Staffing

* Identify staffing needs for the development and delivery of PM/CM and construction management services
* Lead and participate in recruiting key staff
* Coordinate the deployment of key construction management practice resources on opportunities, pursuits, and projects

Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture or related discipline
* 20-plus years experience of proven construction management experience
* Minimum 5-plus years of experience in a senior construction leadership role
* Minimum 5-plus years personally leading projects in excess of $200M in construction value
* Experience personally managing or leading a team in the successful delivery of CM projects
* Strong Federal and Buildings background preferred
* Professional Engineering License preferred
* Master degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture or related discipline
