In an Architecture/Engineering professional services firm, the Learning & Development (L&D) Manager leads initiatives to enhance capabilities to win and successfully deliver on engineering projects and support employee career growth. The L&D Manager understands the business’ goals and objectives, engages line leaders in identifying priority capabilities and performance gaps, develops and gains acceptance to a learning strategy/plan, and directs the design, development, implementation and measurement of the impact of learning and development (L&D) solutions that address critical capability needs. The L&D Manager earns and develops credibility as a valued and trusted business partner at senior levels in the organization. Responsibilities:
* Engage senior line leaders to identify priority capability needs and propose and gain acceptance to an overall L&D approach to build those capabilities. * Direct internal and/or external resources to design, develop, deliver and measure the impact of L&D solutions. Solutions may include use of assessment tools, coaching, and appropriate learning methods such as instructor-led, online, blended and action learning approaches. * Partner with HR colleagues to better understand business needs and to leverage and integrate L&D solutions with already existing people processes. * Develop relationships with senior line leaders through providing value-add L&D solutions to their business needs and, in the process, coach them on practical ways to use L&D to build capabilities. * Contribute to the development of a learning infrastructure and processes for HNTB University and play a leadership role in its implementation. * Contribute to the creation of L&D effectiveness metrics using evaluations, enrollments, financial reports and transfer of learning. * Share expertise with L&D staff in order to further build staff capability. Basic Qualifications:
Education * Required: Bachelor's degree in Organizational Development, Instructional Design, Human Resources, Business or a related discipline or equivalent work experience. * Preferred: Master's Degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Learning & Development, Education, Human Resources, Business Administration or related discipline. Experience * 7-10 years related work experience in using L&D to build business capabilities. * Developing influential and trust based relationships with senior leadership and decision makers. * Designing and implementing contemporary and innovative learning / training solutions to address business needs. * Demonstrated results through L&D or organizational consulting; i.e., diagnosing, creating and implementing L&D initiatives that resulted in measurable improvements and achievement of specific business objectives. Skills * Strong influencing, business consulting and partnership skills. * Strong project management, planning and analytical skills. * Executive presence, communication and presentation skills. * Emotional intelligence. * Holistic, strategic thinker and planner * Excellent judgment and decision-making abilities. * Drive change in the way organization/people think resulting in behavioral change. * Ability to work independently, on a team and within a matrix environment.
