Manufacturing Engineer
Reports To: Operations Manager
Location/Department: Shawnee Mission, Kansas / Operations
Salary Grade: 10
FLSA Status: Full-Time Exempt
Summary:
Key objectives include implementation, support and direction for reengineering and optimization of our manufacturing process, equipment technology, and lean manufacturing process. The position will support day-to-day operations, effectiveness and influence the next generation of designs. The role manages activities and serves as the liaison of SITE and manufacturing plants.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Perform layout and work method reviews, analysis, and changes. Included in layout reviews should be RM, WIP, and product flow through factory
-Develop optimization strategies and disciplines for iterative activities
-Provide the infrastructure and support to the plants through development and implementation of Simmons Production System
-Communicate using data to focus plant resources on critical areas needing improvement thereby significantly increasing plan acceptance and involvement
-Use mathematical and statistical formulates to relate performance measures to accounting measures. When traditional performance measurement systems do not exist, develop cohesive measurement system as needed
-Provide detailed analysis for decision makers
-Create standards sheets including work instructions, standard work sheets, flow diagrams, and value stream maps
-Design and carry out time studies and methods analysis and other work measurement activities
-Work within and alongside the product development team to facilitate smooth product transition from concept to delivery
-Maintain electronic databases of studies, methods, practice descriptions, work instructions, and field studies to increase the organization?s knowledge base
-Perform financial analysis as it relates to engineer changes or proposals (i.e. IRR, ROI, etc.)
-Conduct and summarize field pilot tests in support of new products and/or new processes

Requirements:
Education/Experience: *3 -5 years related experience in shop floor/manufacturing field assignment field preferred
-Bachelor of Engineering Degree
-Up to 50% travel
-Work is primarily sedentary in nature
Position Qualifications:
-Strong orientation towards data driven analysis
-Experience, education, and training in lean techniques or TPS system preferred
-Ability to identify, develop, and lead projects independently
-Previous experience in operational analysis and motion study
-Critical thinking and problem solving skills are essential
