TMC is a two-hospital, combined 354-bed not-for-profit hospital, which is the largest and most comprehensive safety net healthcare provider in Kansas City, Missouri. As a comprehensive, multi-faceted, not-for-profit health care system, TMC serves all patient demographics, regardless of the ethnic or socioeconomic backgrounds. A PRN EEG Tech performs standard and complex neurodiagnostic procedures, special procedures and recordings for monitoring additional physiological phenomena by means of appropriate techniques. Procedures include brain death monitoring as well as surgical evoked potentials. Uses EEG equipment, determines appropriate deviations and montage set ups. Uses filters and sensitivity setting. Performs particularly complex or unusual recording procedures, including electro-cerebral silence. Performs evoked potential studies, auditory, visual, and somatosensory stimulation. Uses extremely sensitive equipment and determines parameters for individual study of brain-stem functioning. Performs video-monitoring testing. Video tapes clinical testing while simultaneously recording EEG. Differentiates psuedoseizures from sub-clinical seizures as well as generalized from other forms of seizures. Applies electrodes, including symmetrical placement of patients with skull defects, shunts, and swelling brain. Performs collodion application for patients with complications, including pyrexia.
