Overview Industry: Electrical Contracting Location: Kansas City, MO General Summary: Project Engineers work directly with the Project Team in the execution of the project from inception to close-out. The Project Team consists of the Project Manager, Field Operations Manager & Project Foreman. All Project Team members are expected to act as compelling representatives of Barts Electric. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Interpret & analyze project drawings, specifications & other associated contract documents Assist the Project Managers in the following activities: * Job Start-Up including special procurements and long lead-time items. * Project Buyout:Assist in obtaining and evaluating quotes from suppliers and vide input in budgeting process for projects, as needed. * Change Order pricing & resolution of field issues Open communication, problem-solving and troubleshooting in conjunction with Project Manager & Project Foreman Correspondence, coordination & attentive open-communication with the project’s General Contractor / Construction Manager * Review & send all required project submittals in conjunction with project specifications and maintain & update a detailed Submittal Log * Draft and submit Requests for Information (RFI’s); Maintain and update a detailed RFI Log; Monitor the status of requests and follow-up until resolution is reached * Ensure all PR’s, ASI’s, RFI’s and formally issued Change Orders are reviewed in a timely manner * As noted, give any suggestions, which may provide more efficient ways to executive specific tasks to the Project Manager(s) * Work with the Project Foreman, as applicable, to become familiar with materials, means and methods of construction and progress of the job. Develop understanding of processes and job management. * Set-up and maintain all required project files. * Other duties as assigned by manager Requirements Selection Criteria: Candidates for this Position should hold the following qualifications and be able to demonstrate the following abilities to be considered as a suitable applicant. Please note that except where specified as “preferred," all points listed below are considered minimum requirements. Qualifications (Skills – technical and non-technical): * Degree in Construction Management or Construction Engineering * Previous experience working for an Electrical Contractor (preferred) * Ability to prepare construction schedules in Microsoft Project (preferred) * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Highly motivated towards career success * Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office * Well organized and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously * Mastery of Project Controls including RFI and Submittal process, change tracking, ASI’s, etc. * Must be able to read, interpret and understand plans and specifications We offer competitive pay and a generous benefits package!
