Positions Wanted
CSI is seeking to fill two positions in our Project Engineering Department, a SCADA Project Engineer and an Entry Level Project Engineer. Each of these positions will be based out of our headquarters office in Lenexa, Kansas USA.
CSI Project EngineersCSI’s project engineers are involved with our projects every step of the way. Project managers oversee project activities from the kick-off meeting through design, development, factory acceptance tests, installation, site acceptance tests, commissioning, maintenance, and follow-up. CSI’s project engineers apply their wide-ranging expertise to every project, including skills in electrical engineering, process control, instrumentation, software programming, software configuration, testing, panel construction, and more.
Requirements:
SCADA Project Engineer and Entry Level Project Engineer PositionsBoth positions report primarily to an assigned Project Manager or Technical Manager.
ResponsibilitiesComprehensive involvement in the project lifecycle under the direction of CSI project management, which may include:
- Reading and understanding technical project requirements
- Contributing to project specifications prepared by CSI
- Specification and procurement of project materials
- Specification and design of project drawings (not drafting)
- Assembly, configuration, and testing of CSI systems
- Participation in witnessed testing with other CSI employees and with CSI’s customers
- Assisting with system shipment
- Participation in system installation, installation supervision, start up, commissioning, and site acceptance testing
- Preparation of project documentation to support the activities listed above
Expected to develop expertise with CSI’s UCOS® and FUEL-FACS® software products as required to complete project assignments. May also be called upon to perform programming and configuration of third party industrial controls products such as PLCs, DCSs, and HMIs.
Must travel domestically and internationally for start up and commissioning of projects.
Expected to interact with CSI customers in a competent, professional manner.
May be responsible for supervision and direction of drafting and panel shop personnel.
Special RequirementsKnowledge in the areas listed below is essential to success in the position:
- Basic electrical and electronic principles required for electrical and controls engineering
- Discrete and analog wiring methods
- I/O hardware layout and panel design
- Working knowledge concerning the available types of and the application of control system instrumentation
- Working knowledge of motor control centers, switch gear, starter circuits, and variable speed/frequency drives
- Engineering design/drawing standards including P&IDs, flow sheets, logic drawings, loop drawings, electrical one lines, etc.
- Serial and network data communication standards and techniques
- PC systems and software including assembly and loading of PCs, use of application programs (i.e. - Microsoft Word, Excel, etc), and possibly software application development.
- Troubleshooting of control systems and components based on the knowledge listed above
Should be able to work independently or as part of a project team. Must be able to work outside of CSI’s offices with no direct supervision and also at CSI’s offices under the supervision of CSI project management. Should exhibit a positive attitude towards all facets of their work.
Good communication skills are a must since the position necessitates interaction with CSI employees and CSI’s customers.
Must be flexible to the demands of CSI’s business, which sometimes result in rapidly changing workloads and urgent deadlines.
Must be willing to follow established and evolving procedures for engineering tasks at CSI (e.g. – SOPs and WIs). Must also be able to perform engineering tasks when procedures are not yet established.
Must be capable of performing work that requires accuracy and close attention to detail (maintaining appropriate project files, engineered drawing design, parts list preparation, etc). This includes organization and presentation of information in a concise, engineering format.
