Staff Accountant
A locally owned printing company in South Kansas City is looking for a Staff Accountant who can join our team. This is a full time position that reports to the Controller. We offer full benefits which include Health, Dental, 401k Match, Vacation and competitive salary.
Description:
The Staff Account will manage various General Ledger balance sheet accounts as well as analyze and report on various expense accounts. A primary function of the position will be handling payments and accounts payable duties that are pertinent to the basic functions of the organization.
Receiving and verifying invoices for accuracy and ensuring approval for payment has been received by authorized personnel prior to issuing payment
File paid invoices in an organized format to ensure information is easily and readily accessed
Process vendor checks in a timely manner to optimize cash flows and maintain good credit ratings
Researches vendor statements, phone calls and discrepancies and respond to customer requests for additional invoice copies
Provide analysis of vendor activity when needed using various reports
Provides guidance, direction and information to associates, customer and supervisors on specific Accounts Payable issues that may arise
Monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts related to Accounts Payable along with year-end reconciliation
Prepares reports and governmental filings (e.g. 1099)
Assist the controller with various tasks and special projects
Maintain several balance sheet account reconciliations and provide journal entries for those accounts
This position interacts with various customers and internal departments and must remain courteous at all times and represent the Controller and Accounting department as a whole in a professional manner

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Business/Accounting required.
Must have working knowledge of all Accounts Payable and Receivable functions as well as a thorough understanding of the general ledger.
Must be proficient in all Microsoft programs as well as 10 key data entry.
Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision as well as with a team of individuals.
Must be very dependable and deadline driven.
At least three years’ experience working with the General Ledger and A/P
Must be able to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.
